Standards
These are the rules every TFS News story follows.
Independence
TFS News has no tie to any campaign, party or committee and takes no payment from them. TFS News is independent and privately funded.
Sources
- Every reported fact links to where it came from, so you can check it.
- Every article ends with a list of its sources.
- When a fact comes from another outlet's reporting, the story says whose.
- We do not publish names, numbers, quotes, dates or polls we cannot source.
Credit
- When another outlet broke a story first, we credit it by name and link to its story.
- When we report a story ourselves from public records and our own interviews, there is no credit line. The records are linked in the story.
Fairness
- Where a story has sides, we report each side's stated position.
- Facts come before reactions.
- No party framing and no loaded adjectives.
- Plain English and short sentences.
How stories are made
- New stories are reported and told by TFS News reporters in their own words.
- Each one is recorded, then transcribed and edited for clarity.
- Every story, old and new, is checked against the sources it links to.
Bylines
New recorded stories carry the name of the reporter who told them. Our first seven articles carry the byline TFS News.
Claims about people
- An accusation that someone broke the law or did wrong is reported only as what a court record, official filing, official statement or a named news outlet says, and the sentence says who said it.
- Allegations are never stated as fact.
- When no charges have been filed, the story says so.
- When the person has responded in public, the story includes the response.
Corrections
Send corrections to corrections@tfsnews.co. Please include the article link and a source for the correct information.
When we get something wrong, we fix the article and add a dated correction note at the bottom that says what changed.
